Warmer Homes London Co-Chairs Visit Waltham Forest

Our interim Director Eleanor Purser was delighted to join Warmer Homes London’s Co-Chairs, Deputy Mayor for Climate Mete Cabon and Mayor Brenda Dacres, last week on a visit to Waltham Forest to meet a resident supported through the Warm Homes: Local Grant programme.

They were welcomed by Councillor Clyde Loakes and the Waltham Forest Delivery team, including representatives from Waltham Forest’s in-house retrofit contractor Kanopiworks. Waltham Forest are one of the 31 boroughs in the GLA-led Local Grant delivery Consortium. As part of the whole house retrofit works, the resident received ventilation upgrades, a mould wash, and the installation of Solar PVs.

During the visit, attendees heard from the resident directly how the improvements had made her home more comfortable, and lowered her bills. Ali Sheekhey of Kanopiworks highlighted how transparent communication and resident-first delivery were essential to building trust and ensuring success – a powerful example of the resident-first retrofit that Warmer Homes London champions.

As we await the upcoming Warm Homes Plan, it’s clear how vital improving London’s housing stock is: not only to reach climate goals, but also to ensure safe and affordable to heat homes for all Londoners.

Regional and local partnership working allows us to reach scalable, high quality retrofit more effectively and efficiently. At Warmer Homes London, we’re proud to be part of this mission for London.
